Job summary

Suntory Global Spirits is seeking an experienced EHS professional to lead environmental compliance and health & safety at our site in Ireland. You will ensure adherence to EPA IE/IPC license conditions and Seveso/COMAH requirements, while driving sustainability initiatives.

Responsibilities include monitoring programs, incident investigations, audits (ISO 14001/45001), and liaison with authorities such as EPA and Local Authorities.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or Environmental Science.
  • 3–5 years of experience in EHS compliance roles.
  • Strong knowledge of Irish EHS legislation including IPPC and COMAH/SEVESO.
  • Experience in internal auditing.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of flammable and explosive atmosphere regulations.

Job description

Role Responsibilities

Environmental Compliance (Primary Focus)

  • Maintain full compliance with EPA Industrial Emissions (IE) or IPC License conditions.
  • Manage environmental monitoring programs (air emissions, effluent, groundwater, noise, waste).
  • Prepare and submit statutory environmental reports (AER, PRTR, ELRA, CRAMP).
  • Oversee waste management, including hazardous waste, ensuring compliance with Waste Framework Directive.
  • Lead sustainability initiatives in energy, water, carbon reduction, and circularity.
  • Manage bund integrity, spill prevention, stormwater controls, and environmental incident response.
  • Liaise with EPA, Irish Water, Local Authorities, and environmental consultants.
  • Maintain environmental aspects/impacts register.

Health & Safety Management

  • Ensure compliance with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and all associated regulations.
  • Develop and maintain the site Safety Management System aligned with ISO 45001.
  • Conduct risk assessments, ATEX zoning reviews, PUWER assessments, and Safe Systems of Work.
  • Lead accident/incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Manage contractor safety, permit to work systems, and site inductions.
  • Deliver safety training, toolbox talks, and behavioral safety programs.
  • Oversee chemical safety, COSHH/SDS management, and hazardous substance controls.
  • Maintain and update the site’s COMAH Safety Report and associated documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with Seveso III major accident hazard control requirements.
  • Coordinate inspections and audits with the HSA, EPA, and Local Authorities.
  • Lead major accident scenario analysis, modelling, and mitigation planning.
  • Manage internal and external emergency planning requirements.

Leadership & Culture Development

  • Promote a proactive safety and environmental culture across all departments.
  • Chair the site EHS Committee and lead cross functional improvement initiatives.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all EHS matters.
  • Support training, awareness, and engagement programs.
  • Track and report EHS KPIs (TRIR, near misses, audit scores, environmental metrics).
  • Prepare monthly reports for senior leadership and corporate EHS teams.
  • Lead internal and external audits (ISO 14001, ISO 45001, corporate audits).
  • Drive continuous improvement through root cause analysis.
Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or Engineering. 3–5 years' experience in EHS compliance roles.
  • Strong knowledge of Irish EHS legislation including IPPC and COMAH/SEVESO.
  • Experience in internal auditing.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of flammable and explosive atmosphere regulations.
