This role offers commercial accountability, ownership of budgeting, forecasting and financial strategy, and a chance to shape controls and drive system improvements while developing a focused finance team.

• Qualified accountant with post-qualification experience in a senior finance role.

• Excellent commercial acumen, hands-on cost accounting and strategic finance capability.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the financial management of the company, ensuring accuracy and integrity of reporting.
• Lead and develop a small finance team.
• Own the ledger structure and monthly reporting across sites, projects and departments.
• Collaborate with project managers to track costs and profitability on multiple projects.
• Prepare quarterly statements and lead budgeting, forecasting and planning.
• Manage cash flow, working capital and supplier terms aligned to project cycles.
• Prepare for annual audits and liaise with auditors.
• Oversee statutory and taxation compliance including sector reporting.
• Support upgrade of finance systems and provide ad hoc leadership duties.

Barden are delighted to be selected as the exclusive recruitment partner for a well established engineering and project based business based in Waterford, as they seek to appoint a Chief Financial Officer to lead their finance function.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially minded Chief Financial Officer to take ownership of the finance function of a well established, project driven business. Reporting to senior leadership, you'll play a central role in shaping financial strategy, strengthening controls, and driving system improvements, all while leading and developing a team. This role would suit someone who enjoys being close to operational detail while also contributing at a strategic level.

ABOUT THE ROLE

• Oversee the financial management of the company, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting.
• Lead and develop a small tight knit finance team.
• Own the nominal ledger structure and monthly reporting, including site, project, and departmental P&L's.
• Collaborate with project managers to track costs and profitability across multiple concurrent projects.
• Prepare quarterly financial statements and lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
• Manage cash flow, working capital, and supplier payment terms aligned to project cycles.
• Prepare for and manage the annual audit process, liaising directly with auditors.
• Oversee Statutory and taxation compliance, including relevant sector-specific tax reporting and CSO returns.
• Support the roll-out of an upgraded finance system.
• Other duties behest of a Chief Financial Officer such as acting as Company Secretary, environmental reporting, insurance, pension administration and other adhoc duties required as part of the leadership role in Finance.

ABOUT THE PERSON

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with strong post-qualification experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance role.
• Strong people-management experience, with a track record of developing and cross-training a finance team.
• Excellent commercial acumen, comfortable operating hands-on across cost accounting while also engaging at a strategic level.
• Confident, personable communicator, capable of building strong relationships with project teams and senior leadership alike.
