Job summary

Highfield Healthcare is seeking a friendly Catering Assistant to join our catering department serving residents, staff, and visitors. You will support meal delivery, basic food prep, and maintain HACCP compliance in a busy kitchen environment.

The role offers full-time hours (70 per fortnight) with opportunities to learn, training, and access to pension and employee benefits. A positive, multicultural team and a commitment to high standards are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in kitchen porter, catering, or similar role
• Good understanding of food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP knowledge is an advantage)
• Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment as part of a multicultural team
• Flexibility to assist with basic food preparation duties as required

Responsibilities

• Ensure HACCP guidelines are fully implemented.
• Be responsible for goods in & out of the kitchen and maintain records.
• Assist with the delivery of meals to units.
• Assist with basic food preparation as required by chef.
• Ensure all requirements are met, depending on residents needs/requests.
• Empty all returned trays and wash contents plus trays.
• Keep all kitchen, fridges, freezers, cold room and stores areas clean and tidy.
• Replace all delph, crockery and cutlery to designated areas for re-use.
• Wash pots and pans as used as required by Chef.
• Complete all HACCP forms as required.
• Ensure all kitchen equipment and surfaces are kept clean and tidy.
