Job summary

Moorehall Lodge Ardee, part of the Virtue Integrated Elder Care Group, is seeking a Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join our nursing home in Ardee, Co. Louth. You will provide compassionate, person-centred care to residents, supporting daily living activities while promoting independence and dignity.

We offer continuous training, career progression, and a supportive team in a welcoming community. This role requires QQI Level 5 or a health-related degree, and eligibility to work in Ireland.

Qualifications

• QQI Level 5 in healthcare or equivalent.
• Nursing/Allied Health/Healthcare degree acceptable.
• Experience in elder care essential.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills required.
• Eligibility to work in Ireland.

Responsibilities

• Assist in delivering holistic care to residents, promoting equality and dignity.
• Support daily living activities and social activities.
• Respect privacy and promote independence.
• Assist residents with limited mobility.
• Observe care plans and alert nurses to changes.

Healthcare Assistant (HCA) | Moorehall Lodge Ardee, Ardee, Co. Louth

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in delivering a high standard of holistic care to residents, always promoting their equality and dignity.
• Carry out assigned and delegated tasks involving direct care and all activities of daily living which may include e.g. washing, toileting, dressing, undressing, dining, social activities, conversation, communication support and all other aspects of daily living.
• Respect the privacy and dignity of all residents and promote their independence.
• Provide particular attention and assist residents who have limited mobility.
• Understand, be knowledgeable on and observe care plans and alert nurses immediately regarding any changes in the physical and mental state of the residents.
• Report immediately any incident or potential incident which may compromise the health and safety of residents or visitors.
• Maintaining a safe environment for the residents, staff and visitors of the home.
• Communicate effectively with all residents and their relatives/representatives.
• Contribute to and enhance the quality of resident activities and events.

Essential Criteria's:

• QQI Level 5 in healthcare (or equivalent)
• OR Nursing/Allied Health/Healthcare related Degree
• Experience in elder care
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Strong supervisory and motivational skills
• Eligibility to work in Ireland
