Job summary

eBay is seeking a Capacity Planning Engineer to forecast infrastructure demand and optimize compute, storage, and network resources across hybrid environments including on-prem Kubernetes, Azure, and GCP.

You will collaborate with platform, engineering, data center, and supply chain teams to translate workload characteristics into capacity plans, build observability dashboards, and contribute to automation and performance analysis.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent required.
Experience in capacity planning or related field is advantageous.
Familiarity with cloud platforms and large-scale infrastructure sizing is preferred.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute capacity plans across on-premises Kubernetes, Azure, and GCP environments.
Partner with AI, Hadoop, Spark, MapReduce, HDFS, Search, and other platform teams to translate workload characteristics into capacity plans.
Analyze infrastructure demand, utilization, and performance to forecast capacity needs and optimize resource allocation.
Identify bottlenecks and drive improvements in efficiency, cost, availability, and reliability.
Build dashboards and observability solutions using Grafana and Prometheus, reporting on capacity status and trends.
Conduct scenario and what-if modeling to assess traffic growth and infrastructure changes.
Contribute to automation and capacity engineering process improvements.
