Mater Misericordiae University Hospital is seeking an Advanced Practice Physiotherapist (cAP) to provide safe, timely, evidence-based physiotherapy-led care in a holistic and autonomous manner.
This is a full-time Specified Purpose contract for up to 3 years, with progression to the Advanced Practice Physiotherapist post on a permanent basis upon successful completion; informally inquiries to Emma Gorman at egorman@mater.ie.
The overall purpose of the candidate Advanced Practice (cAP) post is to provide safe, timely, evidenced based physiotherapy-led care in a holistic and autonomous manner to service users at an advanced physiotherapy level. This involves undertaking and documenting a complete episode of care according to collaboratively-agreed protocols and scope of practice in the clinical setting, demonstrating advanced clinical and theoretical knowledge, critical thinking, clinical leadership and decision-making skills.
The candidate Advanced Practice Physiotherapist role demonstrates a high degree of knowledge, skill and experience that is applied within the Physiotherapist-service user relationship to achieve optimal outcomes through advanced critical analysis, problem solving and decision-making.

Note on Tenure: The post of Candidate Advanced Practice Physiotherapist is a full-time Specified Purpose Contract for the duration of the candidacy i.e. maximum of 3 years. The candidate is required to achieve essential milestones thereby successfully completing their candidacy within a maximum of 3 years from commencement of this post.
On successful completion of the requirements of the candidacy programme, the candidate will be appointed to the post of Advanced Practice Physiotherapist on a permanent basis. Failure to successfully complete their candidacy, within a maximum of 3 years from commencement in this candidate post, will result in termination of the Advanced Practice career pathway for the candidate and a return to a previously held substantive post OR redeployment within the organisation.
