It works with partners to save lives, protect displaced persons, and facilitate legal migration pathways. This role is based in Dublin, Ireland, at the Citywest Reception Centre, reporting to the Chief of Mission and Head of Immigration, Border Governance (IBG) and Protection.
Job purpose: This role is accountable for the day-to-day implementation of activities supporting the registration and processing of applicants seeking international protection in Ireland. The position is based at the Citywest Reception Centre in Dublin and operates under the direct supervision of the Head of Immigration, Border Governance (IBG) and Protection, and the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission. The incumbent will collaborate with the project management team and relevant mission units to ensure the smooth operation of reception services for asylum seekers, contributing to IOM's mandate of promoting humane and orderly migration and providing essential support to individuals on the move.
Responsibilities: Coordinate and facilitate applicant flow for screening, registration, and biometric collection, managing queues effectively. Provide frontline information, guidance, and assistance to applicants, ensuring clear communication of procedures and services. Offer practical support for applicants facing barriers (language, literacy, digital, accessibility), facilitating access to mediation and interpretation. Undertake biometric data collection using designated equipment and systems, adhering to procedures. Monitor operations, identify bottlenecks, and take action to ensure efficient functioning. Contribute to service improvement by providing feedback to the project management team. Liaise with relevant personnel (DJHAM, cultural mediators, interpreters, security) for daily operations, including administrative tasks and applicant meals. Identify, document, and elevate operational, safeguarding, welfare, protection, security, and technical concerns. Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, health and safety, security protocols, confidentiality, and data protection. Collect and share field data, prepare reports, and identify good practices, gaps, and challenges. Promote synergies with other IOM projects at the Citywest Reception Centre.
Education: High School diploma with six years of relevant experience, OR a Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields from an accredited institution with four years of relevant professional experience.
Work experience: Experience liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs. Experience working with migrants, refugees, victims of trafficking, and vulnerable groups. Knowledge of relevant Irish government authorities. Prior experience in a multicultural setting with UN/international humanitarian organizations or government institutions is advantageous.
Skills: Ability to work with migrants and asylum seekers, including vulnerable individuals. In-depth knowledge of International Protection legal framework and asylum procedures in Ireland. Proven ability to liaise with diverse stakeholders. Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to maintain accuracy and confidentiality. Skill in preparing clear, concise reports and working with statistics.
