Job summary

SuperValu Naas is seeking a hardworking Butcher’s Assistant to join the Meat Department. You will support the butcher in preparing, presenting and maintaining a high-quality range of fresh meat while delivering excellent customer service.

Previous experience is advantageous, but full training will be provided. The role involves handling various cuts of beef, lamb, pork and poultry, with a focus on quality, freshness and hygiene in a busy retail environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a butcher shop, supermarket meat department or food retail is an advantage.
• Knowledge of meat cuts is desirable but not essential – full training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Assist the butcher and Meat Department team with the day-to-day operation of the department.
• Assist with the preparation, cutting, packing and presentation of fresh meat products.
• Develop knowledge of different cuts of beef, lamb, pork and poultry.
• Maintain excellent standards of product quality, freshness and presentation.
• Replenish and merchandise products to a high standard.
• Ensure correct stock rotation and minimise waste.
• Follow all company procedures relating to food safety, HACCP, hygiene and health & safety.
• Keep work areas, equipment and the Meat Department clean and organised.
• Assist with customer orders and provide friendly, helpful customer service.
• Work efficiently as part of a busy team and assist with other duties as required.

About the Role

Position: Butcher’s Assistant
Experience: Previous experience or knowledge of meat cuts an advantage, but full training will be provided.

Pay: €14.15-€16.00 per hour
