Job summary

Lincoln Recruitment Specialists is seeking an experienced Business Unit/General Manager to lead a chemical logistics operation in Dublin. You will be responsible for the safe, compliant and commercially successful operation of a Tier 1 COMAH site, with accountability for P&L, budgeting and strategic growth.

The role requires 8+ years in chemical logistics or high-hazard environments, senior management experience, and strong regulatory knowledge.

Qualifications

• Experience leading multidisciplinary operational teams.
• Strong knowledge of COMAH / major accident prevention requirements.
• Experience operating within a regulated Irish environment and engaging with regulatory bodies.
• Strong understanding of chemical storage, logistics and hazardous materials handling.
• Knowledge of ERP/WMS systems, KPIs and continuous improvement.
• A strong understanding of HSEQ and environmental management.
• DGSA qualification, or willingness to obtain.
• ISO 45001 and/or ISO 14001.

Responsibilities

• Taking overall accountability for the safe and compliant operation of a Tier 1 COMAH site.
• Maintaining and implementing the Major Accident Prevention Policy (MAPP) and associated COMAH requirements.
• Acting as a key point of contact with relevant Irish regulatory bodies, including the HSA and EPA.
• Overseeing risk assessments, hazard identification, emergency preparedness and major accident prevention activities.
• Leading warehouse and logistics operations covering chemical storage, handling, transport coordination and value-added services such as repacking and labelling.
• Ensuring compliance with ADR and relevant hazardous materials requirements.
• Driving a strong safety-first culture across the site and ensuring appropriate HSEQ standards are maintained.
• Leading incident investigations, corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Overseeing environmental controls, including waste, emissions and spill response.
• Leading a multidisciplinary team across operations, HSEQ, customer service and transport.
• Developing people through training, performance management and professional development.
• Building strong relationships with key customers, suppliers and external stakeholders.
• Taking responsibility for site P&L, budgeting and financial performance.
• Identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs and support profitable growth.
• Working with senior leadership on investment, growth and longer-term operational strategy.

Lincoln are delighted to be recruiting for an experienced Business Unit/General Manager to take overall responsibility for a specialist chemical logistics operation in Dublin.

This is a senior site leadership role within a high-hazard, Tier 1 COMAH environment, with responsibility for the safe, compliant and commercially successful operation of a chemical storage and logistics facility.

We’re looking for an experienced senior operations leader with a background in chemical logistics, hazardous materials or another high-hazard industrial environment.

Requirements:

• 8+ years' experience within chemical logistics, hazardous materials or a comparable high-hazard environment.
• 3+ years' experience in a senior management or site leadership position.
• Strong knowledge of COMAH / major accident prevention requirements.
• Experience operating within a regulated Irish environment and engaging with relevant regulatory bodies.
• Strong understanding of chemical storage, logistics and hazardous materials handling.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary operational teams.
• Commercial experience including P&L, budgeting, cost control and operational performance.
• Knowledge of ERP/WMS systems, KPIs and continuous improvement.
• A strong understanding of HSEQ and environmental management.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• The leadership capability to create a strong culture of safety, accountability and operational excellence.
• COMAH Duty Holder or COMAH Awareness training.
• DGSA qualification, or willingness to obtain.
• Experience with ISO 45001 and/or ISO 14001.
• Degree-level qualification in Logistics, Engineering, Chemistry or a related discipline.
