Job summary

Air Products is seeking an experienced Electrician/Mechanical Technician for our Bulk Gas team at the Leixlip site in Co. Kildare.

You will provide electrical and mechanical maintenance, field support, and safety compliance for a range of bulk gas equipment and systems. The role requires a professional electrical or mechanical diploma or apprenticeship, manufacturing experience, and solid troubleshooting skills.

Qualifications

• Electrical or mechanical diploma or apprenticeship required.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting techniques.
• Electrical or mechanical engineering experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• SCADA and PLC experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Bulk Gas plant equipment preferred.
• Experience drafting procedures.

Responsibilities

• Day-to-day operation and maintenance of equipment at the Leixlip site.
• Ensure adherence to safety processes and training requirements.
• Investigate equipment failures with root-cause analysis and implement fixes.
• Provide hands-on support for hardware, software, and analytical equipment issues.
• Raise escalation for further support when needed.
• Perform preventive maintenance to maximise equipment uptime.
• Maintain accurate documentation and participate in audits.
• Interact effectively with customers and vendors at all levels.

Reimagine What’s Possible We are currently looking for an experienced Electrician/Mechanical Technician to join our Industrial Gases group where you will be working as one of our Bulk Gas Technicians at our site in Leixlip, Co Kildare. Our Industrial Gases group delivers a wide range of highly niche solutions to customers in a variety of industries, providing safe, reliable and cost-effective equipment and systems. For our larger customers we design and construct gas storage facilities on site. The Technician will provide engineering, operations and maintenance support with a strong focus on health and safety, as well as electrical and mechanical technical expertise.

Duties Include:

• Day to day operation & maintenance of equipment
• Responsible for input & alignment to site safety, to include BSP (Basic Safety Process) and LSO (Online) training compliance.
• Participate in (CPS) investigations relating to equipment failures, work with site management/Global Support Services to determine root causes of failure, and the recommendation of appropriate solutions to reduce reoccurrence of/or eliminate cause of failure.
• Provide hands on & customer support as required for resolution of hardware/software field problems as they occur including bulk gas, instrument, electrical, mechanical and analytical equipment problems.
• Raise as appropriate to site management for further support.
• Perform preventive maintenance to reduce unplanned shutdowns and improve overall equipment Up-Time.
• Maintain flawless execution, paying close attention to detail and implement work to the highest standard.
• Customer interface: attend daily and monthly module meetings, support audits.
• Has good understanding of the principles of work processes and data management.
• Good organisation and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrate the ability to effectively interact with customers, third party vendors and also employees at all levels of the organisation.

What are we looking for?

• Professional Electrical or Mechanical diploma or related apprenticeship
• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
• Experienced in trouble shooting techniques
• Electrical or Mechanical technical engineering experience
• Experience with Microsoft Office products and applications
• Good interpersonal skills; proficient communication skills, both written and verbal
• Preferred SCADA and PLC experience
• Preferred good knowledge of Bulk Gas plant equipment
• Experience in drafting procedures
