Job summary

Air Products in Leixlip, Co Kildare, seeks an Electrician/Mechanical Technician for our Industrial Gases Bulk Gas operations. You will perform maintenance, safety compliance, and hands-on troubleshooting across electrical, mechanical and analytical equipment.

The role requires strong problem-solving and customer-facing skills, with a focus on safety and reliability. Experience in manufacturing, SCADA/ PLC preferred, and a diploma or apprenticeship in electrical or mechanical trades.

Qualifications

• Professional Electrical or Mechanical diploma or related apprenticeship.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experienced in trouble shooting techniques.
• Electrical or Mechanical technical engineering experience
• Experience with Microsoft Office products and applications
• Good interpersonal skills; proficient communication skills, both written and verbal
• Preferred SCADA and PLC experience
• Preferred good knowledge of Bulk Gas plant equipment
• Experience in drafting procedures.

Responsibilities

• Day to day operation & maintenance of equipment.
• Input & alignment to site safety, to include BSP (Basic Safety Process) and LSO (Online) training compliance.
• Participate in CPS investigations relating to equipment failures and determine root causes and solutions.
• Provide hands on & customer support for hardware/software field problems including bulk gas, instrument, electrical, mechanical and analytical equipment problems.
• Perform preventive maintenance to reduce unplanned shutdowns and improve equipment Up-Time.
• Maintain flawless execution, paying close attention to detail and high standards.
• Customer interface: attend daily and monthly module meetings, support audits.
• Demonstrate understanding of work processes and data management.
• Good organisation and problem-solving skills.
• Interact with customers, third party vendors and employees at all levels.

We are currently looking for an experienced Electrician/Mechanical Technician to join our Industrial Gases group where you will be working as one of our Bulk Gas Technicians at our site in Leixlip, Co Kildare. Our Industrial Gases group delivers a wide range of highly niche solutions to customers in a variety of industries, providing safe, reliable and cost-effective equipment and systems. For our larger customers we design and construct gas storage facilities on site.

The Technician will provide engineering, operations and maintenance support with a strong focus on health and safety, as well as electrical and mechanical technical expertise.

Duties Include:

• Day to day operation & maintenance of equipment
• Responsible for input & alignment to site safety, to include BSP (Basic Safety Process) and LSO (Online) training compliance.
• Participate in (CPS) investigations relating to equipment failures, work with site management/Global Support Services to determine root causes of failure, and the recommendation of appropriate solutions to reduce reoccurrence of/or eliminate cause of failure.
• Provide hands on & customer support as required for resolution of hardware/software field problems as they occur including bulk gas, instrument, electrical, mechanical and analytical equipment problems. Raise as appropriate to site management for further support.
• Perform preventive maintenance to reduce unplanned shutdowns and improve overall equipment Up-Time.
• Maintain flawless execution, paying close attention to detail and implement work to the highest standard.
• Customer interface: attend daily and monthly module meetings, support audits.
• Has good understanding of the principles of work processes and data management.
• Good organisation and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrate the ability to effectively interact with customers, third party vendors and also employees at all levels of the organisation.

What are we looking for?
