Our client is seeking an experienced Building Services Engineer with a strong background in HVAC, mechanical services or ductwork contracting.
The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing mechanical design information and developing equipment and ductwork technical submissions suitable for procurement and client approval.
A hybrid or remote working arrangement may be considered. However, all candidates must have previous experience working within the Irish construction industry and be available to attend meetings in Mayo or at project locations when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Review mechanical drawings, specifications, schedules and BIM models
- Review project budgets with the estimating team
- Review procurement plans with the procurement team
- Identify missing information and issue RFIs to clients and consultants
- Attend client and design coordination meetings
- Prepare draft equipment and ductwork technical submissions
- Issue technical submissions to clients, consultants, suppliers and external vendors
- Coordinate supplier technical information and product documentation
- Manage client comments, revisions and resubmissions
- Issue final equipment technical submissions for client approval
- Obtain approval for equipment and ductwork technical submissions
- Handover approved submissions to the procurement team
- Track RFI and technical-submission status
- Maintain accurate document-control and revision records
- Support site teams with equipment and design queries during installation
- Work closely with estimating, procurement, engineering and installation teams
Candidate Requirements
- A minimum of five years’ experience in building services, HVAC, mechanical services or ductwork contracting
- Previous Irish construction experience is essential
- Experience preparing equipment and ductwork technical submissions
- Experience converting drawings, specifications and BIM models into procurement-ready schedules
- Strong understanding of mechanical construction and project sequencing
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and design documentation
- Strong document-control and revision-management skills
- Excellent technical, analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Ability to manage several projects and deadlines
Qualifications
- Degree, diploma or relevant qualification in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Detailed knowledge of DW144 and SMACNA standards is desirable
- Experience on data centre, pharmaceutical or semiconductor projects would be an advantage
Remote candidates must be based in Ireland and available to travel to Mayo, client meetings and construction sites when required.
