Job summary

MMD Construction Ltd. seeks an experienced Block Layer for site-based work in Cork. The role involves bricklaying, block laying and masonry on site to project drawings, specifications and Irish standards.

You will ensure safety, quality and timely completion while coordinating with site management and trades. Preferably with 3 years of experience, you will read drawings, interpret specifications, and work independently as part of a larger team.

Qualifications

• 3 years' experience as a Block Layer on residential/commercial projects.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Good communication and organisational skills; attention to quality and safety.

Location : Site-based – CorkEmployment Type: Full-time / Permanent

MMD Construction is seeking an experienced Block Layer to carry out blockwork and masonry works on site in accordance with project drawings, specifications, and Irish construction standards. The successful candidate will ensure all works are completed safely, efficiently, on time, and to the highest quality standards.Key Responsibilities: Carry out all aspects of bricklaying/ block laying and masonry works in accordance with project drawings, mathematical calculations and specifications. Read and interpret construction drawings and blueprints to ensure works are completed accurately and to the required standards. Experience with load bearing, mortar, plastering and the tools and machines used in bricklaying Construct internal and external block walls, retaining walls, and other masonry elements as required. Set out work areas and maintain line, level, and plumb throughout construction activities. Ensure blockwork is completed to programme requirements while maintaining high-quality workmanship. Communicate with Site Management and other trades to ensure smooth progress of works. Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment. Identify and report any issues relating to materials, drawings, or site conditions. Be compliant with Irish Building Regulations and company quality standards. Adhere to all Health & Safety procedures and site rules at all times.Qualifications & Experience Preferably 3 years' experience as a Block Layer on residential, commercial, or mixed-use construction projects. Experience as well as knowledge of materials used in all aspects of blockwork and masonry construction including bondstrength, curing times etc. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and quality requirements. Excellent attention to detail with a focus on workmanship and project delivery. Ability to work independently and as part of a wider site team.
