St James's Hospital is seeking a Registered Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in Breast Care. The CNS will deliver expert nursing care within a consultant-led, multidisciplinary team, coordinating referrals and patient pathways.

The role emphasizes leadership, education, research, and counselling, with a strong focus on evidence-based practice and CPD. Experience in teaching and audits is essential, along with NMBI registration or eligibility and Level 9+ qualification in breast care.

Formación

• Be registered as a Nurse/Midwife on the NMBI or be eligible for registration.
• Be registered in the division for which the application is being made or be entitled to registration.
• Have a minimum of 1 year post-registration full-time experience in the division of the Register.
• Have at least 1 year experience in the specialist area of breast care.
• Have completed a post-registration programme of study with QQI/NFQ Level 9 or higher (60 ECTS+) relevant to breast care, per NCNM guidelines.
• Or provide written evidence of equivalent Level 9+ credits from a Higher Education Institute.
• Demonstrate continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to the specialist area.
• Demonstrate the ability to practice safely and effectively within their scope of practice.
• possess knowledge and ability including leadership, management, and administrative capacity for the duties of the office.
• Experience in teaching and assessing junior staff/nursing students.
• Experience in carrying out audits.
• Note: Level 8 qualification recognized up to Sept 2026.

Responsabilidades

• Deliver specialist nursing care in line with CNS framework for breast care.
• Work as part of a consultant-led multidisciplinary team to coordinate patient care.
• Lead on patient and staff education and CPD activities within breast care.
• Promote evidence-based practice and keep up-to-date with national/international guidelines.
• Contribute to audits and education of junior staff and nursing students.
