Job summary

HireHive in Galway city centre is seeking a part-time Bookkeeper to join our busy team on-site. You will maintain financial records, process invoices, reconcile bank statements, and manage accounts payable/receivable with accuracy and compliance with Irish standards.

The ideal candidate has proven bookkeeping experience, strong Excel skills, and familiarity with Sage, Xero or QuickBooks. Right to work in Ireland is required.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a bookkeeping or similar accounts role.
  • Strong working knowledge of bookkeeping software (Sage, Xero, QuickBooks or similar).
  • Solid understanding of Irish tax and payroll requirements (VAT, PAYE/PRSI).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and IT literacy.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.

Responsibilities

The Company

We are a busy business based in Galway city centre, seeking an organised and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team on a part-time basis. This is an on-site role requiring the successful candidate to work from our city centre premises for all scheduled hours.



Key Responsibilities


  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including purchase and sales ledgers

  • Process invoices, receipts, and payments in a timely manner

  • Reconcile bank statements and petty cash

  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable

  • Assist with VAT returns and liaise with the company's accountant on tax filings

Essential Skills & Experience

Desirable


  • A recognised bookkeeping or accounting technician qualification (e.g. IATI, ATI, or equivalent)

  • Experience working in a small or medium-sized business environment

  • Familiarity with Irish employment and Revenue Online Service (ROS) processes



Requirements


  • Must be able to work on siteat our Galway city centre location for all contracted hours — this role does not offer remote or hybrid working.

  • Right to work in Ireland
