Job summary

Baker Tilly Ireland is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join our ABAS and Outsourcing team in Cork. This role offers a platform to grow your bookkeeping career within a friendly, supportive firm and exposure to a broad range of clients.

You will tackle complex tasks, maintain high client service standards, and contribute to improving clients' systems with accurate, timely reporting and VAT preparation.

Qualifications

• Fluency in English, essential for client communications and reporting.
• Attention to detail is required for accurate bookkeeping and VAT work.
• Ability to work well in a team and also independently when needed.

Responsibilities

• Carry out bookkeeping tasks on clients as directed.
• Take on projects to correct clients' bookkeeping systems.
• Perform bank reconciliations for all clients.
• Perform all relevant control account reconciliations as directed.
• Use Dext and other apps to improve efficiency.
• Prepare VAT returns ready for review by the client manager.
• Plan own time to maximise efficiency and profitability.
• Maintain high standards of personal organisation.
• Deliver high-quality client service to both staff and clients.
• Comply with firm policies, procedures and ethical standards.
• Engage in CPD and personal development activities.

Position Responsibilities

• Carry out bookkeeping tasks on clients as directed
• Take on projects to correct clients bookkeeping systems

• Prepare VAT returns ready for review by the client manager
• Plan own time to maximum efficiency, manage personal time and working practices to maximize profitability and protect the good reputation of the firm.
• Maintain the highest standards of personal organisation.
• Consistently achieve good feedback from clients and staff by delivering a high standard of client service both internally and externally.
• Comply with the firm’s policies, procedures and ethical standards.
• Fulfil ongoing obligation to Continuing Professional Development and take an active role in own personal development

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in the use of accounting software such as Xero, Sage, Big Red Book, Quick Books etc.
• Knowledge of core accounting apps such as Dext
• Ability to use sector software, in particular Excel, Word and e-mail systems.
• Ability to prepare and draft professional letters and emails, ensuring information is communicated accurately, clearly, and in a professional manner to clients.
• Fluency in English essential.
