Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead Building Management System projects from initiation to handover. You will coordinate engineering, software, commissioning, and procurement teams while maintaining safety, schedule, and budget targets.

The role requires strong leadership, exceptional communication, and a customer-focused approach to deliver high-quality, reliable BMS solutions for commercial, pharmaceutical, and data centre environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of BMS projects across commercial, pharmaceutical, industrial, and data centre environments.
• Own project scope, programme, budget, risk management, and customer satisfaction.
• Manage all phases from kick-off through design, installation, commissioning, and final handover.
• Coordinate internal project teams including engineering, software, commissioning, procurement, and installation resources.
• Build and maintain relationships with customers, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Monitor performance, identify and mitigate risks and programme challenges.
• Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, project specifications, quality standards, and processes.
• Lead project meetings, progress reviews, reporting, and customer communications.
• Support resource planning and coordinate project activities for timely delivery.
• Oversee commissioning, witness testing, training, and handover activities.
• Ensure projects achieve financial targets while maintaining customer satisfaction and operational excellence.

Project Manager – Building Management Systems (BMS)

Our Building Management Systems (BMS) help customers improve efficiency, sustainability, safety, and operational performance across commercial buildings, pharmaceutical facilities, and mission-critical data centre environments.

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of Building Management System projects from initiation through to commissioning, customer acceptance, and handover. This role combines project leadership, stakeholder management, commercial awareness, technical coordination, and customer engagement to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

What You Will Do

• Lead the delivery of BMS projects across commercial, pharmaceutical, industrial, and data centre environments.
• Take overall responsibility for project scope, programme, budget, risk management, and customer satisfaction.
• Manage all phases of project execution from kick-off through design, installation, commissioning, and final handover.
• Coordinate internal project teams including engineering, software, commissioning, procurement, and installation resources.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, consultants, contractors, and key stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
• Monitor project performance and proactively identify, mitigate, and resolve risks, issues, and programme challenges.
• Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, project specifications, quality standards, and company processes.
• Lead project meetings, progress reviews, reporting, and customer communications.
• Support resource planning and coordinate project activities to ensure successful and timely delivery.
• Oversee commissioning, witness testing, training, and customer handover activities.
• Ensure projects achieve financial targets while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction and operational excellence.

How You Will Do It

• Apply strong project management methodologies to deliver multiple projects simultaneously.
• Collaborate with technical teams to ensure system designs, controls strategies, commissioning plans, and customer requirements are effectively managed.
• Drive project execution through structured planning, scheduling, cost control, and risk management processes.
• Manage stakeholder expectations and provide regular project updates to both customers and internal leadership teams.
• Foster collaboration across engineering, operations, commissioning, and commercial teams.
• Ensure health, safety, quality, and regulatory compliance remain a priority throughout project delivery.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project delivery performance and customer experience.
• Promote a customer-focused approach while balancing technical, commercial, and operational requirements.

What We Look For

• Proven experience managing Building Management Systems (BMS), controls, automation, building services, or related engineering projects.
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems, controls technologies, and building automation solutions.
• Experience delivering projects from design and installation through commissioning and final client handover.
• Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, schedules, resources, and commercial performance.
• Experience working directly with customers, consultants, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Strong communication, leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Customer-focused mindset with strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.

Highly Advantageous

• Experience delivering projects within pharmaceutical, life sciences, data centre, or other mission-critical environments.
• Knowledge of BMS platforms such as Metasys, Niagara, Trend, Distech, Schneider, Siemens, or similar building automation systems.
• Professional project management qualifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent.
• Experience managing controls, automation, or smart building technology projects.
• Understanding of energy management, system integration, and connected building technologies.
• Knowledge of construction project delivery methodologies and contractual frameworks.
• Engineering, Building Services, Electrical, Controls, or related technical qualification.
