Job summary

MSD in Dublin's Large Molecule Technical Operations Unit seeks an Associate Director, Bioprocess & Technical Engineering to shape process capability and enable robust tech transfers across internal sites and external partners.

You will lead facility-fit evaluations, drive next‑generation bioprocessing strategies, and guide compliance and lifecycle management while collaborating across Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory and Automation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or sciences required.
• 10 years of relevant experience in engineering, manufacturing operations, process development, or technology transfer.
• Minimum 5 years direct experience in biologics drug substance manufacturing.
• Deep knowledge of bioprocess engineering unit operations and scale‑up principles.
• GMP experience with change control, quality risk management, and health authority expectations.
• Strong investigative capability with structured root‑cause analysis and CAPA design.
• Excellent communication across shop floor, peers and executive leadership.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic technical leadership and facility integration across sites and partners.
• Lead technology transfer and process commercialisation efforts for biologics drug substance.
• Coordinate investigations and CAPAs across multiple sites to ensure robust processes.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Science & Technology, External Manufacturing, Quality and Regulatory teams to standardise engineering practices.
• Mentor engineers and scientists, fostering curiosity and technical growth.
