Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve espresso-based beverages, coffees, and other drinks to high standards
• Operate and maintain cafe equipment, keep machines clean and functional
• Steam and texture milk to produce consistent microfoam for lattes and cappuccinos
• Provide friendly, accurate service and take customer orders
• Maintain a clean and hygienic workstation in line with food safety rules
• Handle payments and cash transactions through the POS system
• Collaborate with team to ensure smooth cafe operations during busy periods
• Stock and rotate coffee beans, milk, syrups and other ingredients
• Engage with customers, answer questions about our coffee offerings, and make recommendations
• Contribute to a positive team atmosphere and support colleagues in delivering excellent service

Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Barista to join our café team in Galway, Ireland.

• Prepare and serve a variety of espresso-based beverages, speciality coffees, and other hot and cold drinks to the highest standard
• Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and other café equipment, ensuring they are clean and functioning optimally
• Steam and froth milk with precision to create consistent, high-quality microfoam for cappuccinos, lattes, and flat whites
• Provide friendly, efficient customer service, taking orders accurately and responding to customer preferences and requests
• Maintain a clean and hygienic work station, adhering to food safety and hygiene regulations at all times
• Process payments using the point-of-sale system and handle cash transactions accurately
• Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth café operations during busy periods
• Stock and rotate supplies, including coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other ingredients
• Engage with customers to build rapport, answer questions about our coffee offerings, and make recommendations
• Contribute to a positive team atmosphere and support colleagues in delivering excellent service

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Barista or in a similar café/hospitality role
• Proficiency in operating espresso machines and coffee preparation equipment
• Strong knowledge of coffee extraction techniques, grinding, tamping, and milk steaming
• Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanour
• Ability to multitask efficiently in a busy environment whilst maintaining attention to detail
• Sound understanding of food hygiene and health and safety regulations
• Competence with point-of-sale systems and cash handling
• Strong communication and people skills
• Ability to work flexibly, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends
• Barista certification or formal training in coffee preparation (desirable)
• Experience creating latte art and decorative beverage designs (desirable)
• Knowledge of different coffee origins, roasts, and flavour profiles (desirable)
• Ability to work as part of a collaborative team and contribute positively to the workplace culture
