Job summary

European Tech Recruit is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to join its growing team in Limerick. You will develop PLC control systems for automated machinery, design HMI applications, and collaborate with cross-functional groups across project lifecycles.

The role requires 5+ years in automation with PLC platforms, HMI development, and motion control knowledge. On-site work in Limerick, Ireland, with travel to customer sites as needed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience in PLC programming/automation engineering.
• Strong hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff and/or Siemens PLCs.
• Experience developing and commissioning HMI systems.
• Good understanding of motion control, servo systems and industrial communications.
• Experience with automated machinery or machine-building environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Robotics experience would be an advantage.
• Relevant engineering qualification.
• Full driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Develop and program PLC control systems for automated machinery and equipment.
• Design and develop HMI applications.
• Work with Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff and/or Siemens control platforms.
• Configure and commission servo drives, VSDs and motion control systems.
• Support electrical and controls design throughout the project lifecycle.
• Carry out testing, debugging, FAT and commissioning of automated equipment.
• Troubleshoot PLC, HMI, electrical and control-system issues.
• Work closely with mechanical, electrical and project engineering teams.
• Support equipment installation and commissioning at customer sites.
• Produce and maintain relevant technical documentation.
