Job summary

Douglas Control and Automation in Cork is seeking an Automation Engineer to lead automation projects that support new product development and operational goals. You will plan, design, and deliver automation initiatives while aligning with KPIs and wider engineering objectives.

The role requires practical PLC programming skills, experience with equipment commissioning/qualification, and 1–5 years in automation, preferably in regulated settings.

Qualifications

• 1-5 years experience in Automation ideally in a regulated environment.
• Practical knowledge of PLC programming and control systems.
• Previous experience with equipment commissioning, qualification, or validation activities.

Responsibilities

• Supports the assembly, commissioning, and ongoing development of equipment and automation/control systems, including identifying reliability concerns and potential system upgrades.
• Gathers and documents automation-related project requirements to assist with planning, resource allocation, and maintenance activities.
• Assists with reviews and assessments relating to regulatory requirements, helping identify areas where processes, equipment, or systems may require improvement to maintain compliance.
• Provides support across automation projects and contributes to the preparation and delivery of project outputs in line with agreed schedules.
• Reviews straightforward changes to project scope and assists in gathering the technical and supporting information required to assess potential impacts on project cost and timelines.
• Works closely with engineering teams and internal stakeholders to coordinate activities, communicate progress, and ensure project deliverables are completed effectively.
