Automation Engineer — Manufacturing Automation Lead

Job summary

embecta is a global medical device company focused on insulin delivery and diabetes care. We seek an Automation Engineer to develop, enhance and support manufacturing automation systems to improve plant performance, product quality and reliability.

You will lead automation projects, drive continuous improvement, and ensure compliance with regulatory and quality requirements while coaching Automation Technicians and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Degree in Automation, Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronic or related Engineering discipline.
• Minimum 4 years' experience in an automation engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with equipment commissioning, validation and change management processes.
• Experience in regulated manufacturing environments desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement and optimise automation solutions for manufacturing equipment and processes.
• Lead automation activities associated with equipment upgrades, process improvements and capital projects.
• Develop functional specifications, design documentation, test protocols and change controls.
• Support equipment commissioning, validation and start-up activities.
• Lead troubleshooting and root cause investigations for complex automation and manufacturing issues.
• Develop and implement sustainable corrective and preventive actions.
• Support lifecycle management of automation hardware and software platforms.
• Collaborate with equipment vendors, system integrators and cross-functional teams during project execution.
• Analyse equipment and process performance data to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Ensure automation systems comply with company standards, GMP requirements and applicable regulations.
• Provide technical coaching and support to Automation Technicians.
• Participate in Operational Excellence, Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support achievement of departmental and site objectives.
• Any other reasonable duties which may be required by management from time to time
