Job summary

AIR Sligo is seeking a driven Automation Equipment Engineer to join our team in Ireland. You will own late-stage commissioning, coordinate across mechanical, electrical and software teams, and be the primary interface to customers during project closeout.

You will convert ambiguous issues into defined tasks, manage snag lists, support FAT/SAT, and travel as required to deliver projects on time with a collaborative AIR team.

Qualifications

• Degree-level qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in an automation or machine building environment.
• Strong technical understanding across mechanical, electrical, and/or software systems in automated machinery.
• Excellent analytical and problem-structuring skills with the ability to investigate unknown issues and define clear paths to resolution.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills across multiple teams.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
• Previous experience in a lead or supervisory capacity is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Take technical ownership of machines during late assembly and post power-up phases to ensure full functionality prior to delivery.
• Act as the primary interface between assembly, electrical, software, and engineering/design teams to centralise technical communication and drive issue resolution.
• Manage customer communications post power-up and ensure on-time delivery with support from the project manager, build teams, and wider AIR Sligo team.
• Systematically convert unresolved issues into clearly defined, actionable tasks with owners and resolution paths.
• Identify, register, and manage all outstanding items, snag lists, and technical issues through to closure.
• Coordinate cross-functional activities during commissioning to meet project milestones.
• Engage early to understand machine design and technical requirements.
• Support FAT and SAT activities, including travel to customer sites when required.
• Document all technical changes and communicate to relevant teams.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Design to resolve challenges efficiently.
