Job summary

AIR Sligo seeks an Automation Equipment Engineer in Ireland to lead late-stage commissioning and act as the central technical interface across internal teams. The role focuses on transforming ambiguous issues into structured, actionable tasks and ensuring on-time delivery of projects.

You will coordinate with assembly, electrical, software and design teams, communicate with customers post power-up, and support project management with snag lists, FAT/SAT activities, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Degree-level qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
• 3–5 years of automation or machine-building experience.
• Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical and software systems.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Take technical ownership of machines during late assembly and post power-up, ensuring full functionality before delivery.
• Act as the primary interface between assembly, electrical, software and design teams to centralise technical communication and drive issue resolution.
• Interface with customers post power-up, maintain issues lists, and support project manager with customer communications and on-time delivery.
• Systematically convert unresolved issues into clearly defined, actionable tasks with owners and resolution paths.
• Identify, register, and manage all outstanding items, snag lists and technical issues through to closure.
• Coordinate cross-functional activities during commissioning to meet project milestones.
• Engage early to understand machine design and technical requirements.
• Support FAT and SAT activities, including travel to customer sites as required.
• Ensure technical changes are documented and communicated to relevant teams.
• Work with Engineering and Design teams to resolve technical challenges efficiently.
• Provide regular updates to the Automation Equipment Engineer Lead on project status and technical matters.
