Job summary

Autism A Chara is seeking a dedicated Support Worker for our respite and community-based services in Ireland. The role focuses on delivering person-centred support to adults with autism, including daily living activities, community engagement, and skill development.

We require a QQI Level 5 Health/Care major award, a valid Irish driving licence, and flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts.

Qualifications

A full QQI Level 5 major award in Health/Care is essential.
Awareness of Key Worker/Support Worker role and philosophy for supporting people with complex needs.
Programme planning and person-centred plans knowledge.
Availability to work shifts on a rota including evenings, weekends, and waking night duties.
Full, clean Irish driver’s licence is essential, with ability to drive service vehicles.
Permission to work in Ireland essential.

Responsibilities

Learn about the person, their needs, and what is important to them.
Adapt communication to suit individual needs.
Be engaging, patient, and kind while supporting daily living activities and routines including personal care.
Support engagement with the community and help learn new skills.
Assist the person to understand their rights and make their own decisions.
