Job summary

Brightwater Recruitment is recruiting for an Audit Director on behalf of a Top 10 Irish accountancy and business advisory firm. You will lead the end-to-end delivery of a broad audit portfolio, partner-facing oversight, and shape the future of the Audit department.

You will mentor managers and senior staff, manage risk and client relationships, and contribute to strategy, tenders and business development. This role offers autonomy, influence, and a clear path to Partnership.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years’ post-qualification experience in professional practice.
  • Strong technical audit background across a range of sectors.
  • Proven experience leading teams and managing complex client relationships.
  • Commercially minded with a clear understanding of practice economics.
  • Ambitious, credible and motivated to progress to Partnership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of a broad audit portfolio, from planning through to partner sign-off.
  • Review audit files and financial statements, ensuring technical excellence and regulatory compliance.
  • Act as a senior technical and commercial sounding board to audit teams and Partners.
  • Manage WIP, billing, recoverability, resourcing and scheduling across your portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain strong, trusted relationships with key clients.
  • Advise clients on audit planning, governance and risk management matters.
  • Lead, mentor and develop Managers, Assistant Managers, Seniors and Trainees.
  • Play a key role in departmental strategy, quality initiatives and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to tenders, proposals and fee negotiations.
  • Take ownership of business development activity and grow your own client portfolio.
  • Work collaboratively with Tax, Advisory and other service lines across the firm.

As part of ongoing expansion, the firm is appointing an Audit Director to work closely with Audit colleagues, lead significant client portfolios and play a meaningful role in shaping the future of the Audit department.
