Job summary

Qualifications

• Solid grounding in bookkeeping, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Working knowledge of payroll & Irish tax compliance (VAT, PAYE, corporation tax).
• Exposure to finance systems (Xero/Hubdoc) is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• General ledger reconciliations, monthly accruals and month end close.
• Month end variance reporting to budgets.
• Accounts payable processing, supplier reconciliations, payments & bank reconciliations.
• Processing of payroll journals, employee expenses and payroll related tax returns.
• Reviewing VAT returns and timely filing on a bi-monthly basis.
• Assisting with company secretary filing compliance.
• Project work as required by Head of Finance/CEO/COO.

Reports to: Head of Finance

Role Summary

Circal is a solar farm development group operating in Ireland and the US. Since its establishment in 2024, the Group has grown rapidly to include 11 trading entities. Funded by Octopus Energy Generation, Circal aims to bring 1.65 GW of projects in Ireland and Texas to ‘Ready to Build’ status by 2030.

We are seeking an Assistant Finance Manager to join our finance team, take ownership of financial processing and support administrative activities across the Circal Group. This new, hands-on role offers a broad mix of responsibilities. By managing core finance activities, the successful candidate will enable the Finance Manager to focus more on partnering with project managers as assets progress through development. You will receive day-to-day support from the Finance Manager and the Head of Finance and Commercial while operating with a high degree of autonomy.

This role is ideal for a motivated self-starter who wants to join a growing team in the renewable energy sector.

Responsibilities

• General ledger reconciliations, monthly accruals and month end close
• Month end variance reporting to budgets
• Accounts payable processing, supplier reconciliations, preparation of payments & bank reconciliations
• Processing of payroll journals, employee expenses and payroll related tax returns.
• Reviewing of VAT returns and ensuring timely filing of VAT returns on a bi-monthly basis
• Assisting with company secretary filing compliance
• Project work as required by Head of Finance/CEO/COO

Experience

• Recently qualified/part-qualified accountant with solid grounding in bookkeeping, reconciliations, and month-end close (either from practice or in-house experience)
• Working knowledge of payroll & Irish tax compliance (VAT, PAYE, corporation tax etc.)
• Exposure to finance systems advantageous (Xero/hubdoc)
• Exposure to multi-entity or jurisdiction structures advantageous
• Interest or experience in ESG reporting
