Pioneer Search Limited is seeking an Assistant Engineering Manager in Nenagh, Co. Tipperary, with responsibility for leading a team of 26 engineers in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.

The role reports to the Engineering Manager and includes mentoring, succession planning, and ensuring safe, efficient maintenance to meet production targets. Ideal candidates will have an engineering qualification and prior management experience in manufacturing, plus strong leadership and planning

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification (Electrical or Mechanical) is required.
• Experience leading or supervising maintenance engineers in manufacturing.
• Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and develop a team of 26 multi-skilled maintenance engineers.
• Manage planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities.
• Drive continuous improvement projects to improve equipment reliability, efficiency and OEE.
• Monitor engineering KPIs and ensure maintenance objectives are achieved.
• Support maintenance planning and resource allocation using the site's CMMS.
• Work closely with Production and Site Leadership to minimise downtime and maximise plant performance.
• Manage contractors and ensure engineering compliance with all Health & Safety legislation.
• Coach and mentor engineers to develop technical capability and future talent.
• Support weekend site management responsibilities on a rota basis.
• Deputise for the Engineering Manager when required.

Assistant Engineering Manager Location:Nenagh, Co. Tipperary, Salary: €70,000 - €90,000 + Bonus + Excellent Benefits Shift: Days (Weekend Management Responsibility) The Company A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Engineering Manager to join a leading food manufacturing business at one of its largest and most advanced production sites. This is a genuine succession planning opportunity, working closely alongside the current Engineering Manager, who will mentor and develop the successful candidate with the aim of progressing them into the Engineering Manager position. You'll play a key role in leading the engineering function, driving reliability, continuous improvement and engineering performance while supporting the delivery of production targets across a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The Role Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of 26 multi-skilled engineers, ensuring engineering activities are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standard.

Non-Negotiable Requirements

• Previous engineering management or leadership experience (Team Leader, Supervisor, Assistant Manager or similar).
• Manufacturing or industrial manufacturing background.
• Must live within 45 minutes of the site or be willing to relocate before starting.

Essential Requirements

• Engineering qualification (Electrical or Mechanical).
• Previous experience managing or supervising maintenance engineers within manufacturing.
• Multi-skilled engineering background with strong electrical and mechanical knowledge.
• Experience with PPM, reactive maintenance and engineering planning.
• Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.

Desirable Experience

• Assistant Engineering Manager, Engineering Supervisor, Engineering Team Leader, Maintenance Supervisor or Senior Maintenance Engineer.
• CMMS experience.
• Continuous Improvement and OEE improvement.
• Engineering KPI management.
• Maintenance planning.
• Contractor management.
• Health & Safety compliance.
• Coaching and developing engineering teams.
