Job summary

Sheridan's Cheesemongers is seeking a full-time Cheesemonger for its Dunnes Stores counter in Rathmines. You will engage customers, describe taste profiles, and promote Irish and European artisan foods while learning from in-house training.

The role offers strong opportunities for skill development in cheese storytelling, product knowledge, and customer service in a busy retail environment.

Qualifications

• A year's experience in a similar role desirable but not essential.
• Excellent knowledge and appreciation of Irish and European farmhouse cheese.
• HACCP trained or awareness of HACCP/Food Safety in retail.
• Genuine interest in cheese and other local, artisan foods.
• Self-motivated with ability to work independently.
• Conversation and listening skills.
• Outgoing, cheerful, friendly personality.
• Meticulous understanding of what makes great customer service.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Organised and calm under pressure.
• Available to work 40 hours per week across all 7 days, including Saturdays and Sundays.

Responsibilities

• Educate customers about Irish & European artisan cheese and food producers.
• Sell cheese and other items at the counter and concession walls.
• Maintain cheese in top condition and possess product knowledge.
• Clean counters, storage areas, tasting tables and fridges.
• Receive product deliveries and organise their storage.
• Describe tastes, flavours, textures and pairings of cheese and other foods.
• Display cheese signs and manage stock to prevent waste.
• Read, update and maintain the Daily Handover Book and HACCP documents.
