Job summary

Gaia Talent is seeking an experienced Arborist to join its biodiversity and sustainability consultancy team in Ireland. This new in-house capability will complement the existing ecology offering and deliver robust arboricultural surveys and reports to a high professional standard.

The role requires at least five years of practical arboricultural fieldwork, strong survey and report-writing skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with ecologists on multidisciplinary

Responsibilities

Job description

An established independent biodiversity and sustainability consultancy is looking to add an

experienced Arborist to its team. This is a new in-house capability that will complement an existing

ecology offering and strengthen the consultancy’s ability to provide joined-up arboricultural and

ecological advice to clients across Ireland. The position is suited to someone who combines a strong practical arboricultural skillset with the ability to deliver clear, technically robust survey outputs and written reports to a high professional standard.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Undertake arboricultural field surveys and assessments for a varied portfolio of development and environmental projects.
  • Prepare high-quality arboricultural reports, survey outputs and practical recommendations for clients and project teams.
  • Provide clear arboricultural advice throughout planning and project delivery, identifying tree-related constraints, risks and opportunities.
  • Work closely with ecologists and other environmental professionals to provide coordinated arboricultural and ecological input.
  • Liaise professionally with clients and project stakeholders, communicating technical findings in a practical and accessible way.
  • Support the development of arboriculture as a complementary discipline within the wider consultancy service offering.
  • Contribute to consistent, technically sound and commercially focused project delivery across public and private sector work.
Experience & Profile:
  • A minimum of 5 years’ professional arboricultural experience.
  • Strong practical experience in arboricultural survey and assessment work.
  • Proven report-writing capability, with the ability to produce clear, accurate and high-quality technical documentation.
  • Sound professional judgement and confidence working independently on arboricultural assignments.
  • Strong communication skills and a client-focused approach.
  • Comfortable collaborating with ecology and environmental consultancy teams on multidisciplinary projects.
  • A relevant arboricultural, forestry, environmental or related qualification would be advantageous.

The consultancy operates nationwide and supports public and private sector clients across areas including conservation, renewable energy, industrial development, transport and residential development. Its ecology work spans pre-planning survey and assessment, planning and construction compliance, and post- construction monitoring.
