Job summary

Electricity Supply Board Networks is seeking an Apprentice Supervisor to oversee apprentices in the Southern Regions and drive the SOLAS-aligned apprenticeship programme, ensuring safety, technical competence and progression.

The role focuses on performance management, development support, and coordination with SOLAS and Training & Development teams. Base location to be agreed, with smart working and hybrid collaboration two days per week in the workplace.

Qualifications

• Advanced Level 6 Electrical Craft Certificate or Level 7+ qualification in Electrical, Electronics or Mechanical.
• Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience.
• Knowledge of the Apprenticeship System in the Republic of Ireland.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and reporting skills.
• High level of technical competence in construction, maintenance and operation of networks assets.
• Quality approach to data management.
• Flexible approach to work to ensure excellent customer service.
• Knowledge of ESB’s Corporate IT systems.
• Ability to work to tight delivery timeframes and busy schedules.
• Full clean driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Manage apprentices to ensure they complete SOLAS on-job and off-job phases and all training in the Networks Training Centre.
• Engage with Technical Training & Development teams to deliver the apprentice programme.
• Engage with business line supervisors and apprentices to ensure compliance with the Apprentice Supervision Policy.
• Monitor & promote Apprentice Safety through onsite behavioural assessment audits.
• Work with the Technical Competence Specialist team to promote technical learning of apprentices.
• Provide leadership to ensure apprentices acquire an excellent standard of knowledge of ESB Networks plant, equipment and technical procedures.
• Manage competence levels to ensure apprentices complete technical projects and progress through all aspects of their apprenticeship.
• Manage apprentice performance including all grievance & disciplinary issues.
• Liaise with SOLAS regarding scheduling, progress, attendance & SOLAS payments.
• Engage with stakeholders to implement apprentice recruitment, apprentice streaming and the 4th year recruitment processes.
• Manage induction, rotation, attendance, expenses, payroll, PPE and tools requirements of apprentices.
