Job summary

ESB is seeking an experienced Application Support Specialist to join our Business Application Support team in Dublin. You will maintain, monitor and improve critical ESB applications that underpin generation operations and trading.

Based in ESB Head Office with hybrid arrangements, you will collaborate with stakeholders, vendors and IT teams to ensure 24/7 availability and continuous service improvements while contributing to ESB's decarbonisation and resilient infrastructure goals.

Qualifications

We are seeking an experienced Application Support Specialist to join our Business Application Support team, supporting a portfolio of business-critical applications that underpin ESB's operational and trading activities.

ESB IT Delivery provides critical application support services across a range of business areas including Generation Operations, Energy Trading and ESB Networks. We are seeking an experienced Application Support Specialist to join our Business Application Support team, supporting a portfolio of business-critical applications that underpin ESB's operational and trading activities.

Working as part of a highly motivated team of IT professionals, you will provide support, maintenance, monitoring, enhancement and continuous improvement of both third-party and bespoke ESB applications. You will work closely with business stakeholders, project teams, vendors and other IT support teams to ensure the availability, reliability and ongoing development of critical systems supporting 24/7 operations.

In support of ESB's strategic objectives of decarbonising electricity, building resilient infrastructure and empowering customers, you will help ensure the secure, reliable and efficient operation of business-critical technology platforms that support ESB's generation and trading businesses.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the availability, performance and security of business-critical applications through monitoring, preventative maintenance and proactive system health checks.
• Troubleshoot and resolve incidents, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and service continuity.
• Support application releases, upgrades, change requests and disaster recovery activities, including periodic failover testing between data centres.
• Collaborate with project teams to deliver and integrate new applications and ensure effective knowledge transfer into support teams.
• Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities and service enhancements across the application landscape.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders, external vendors and support teams to deliver high-quality end-to-end services.
• Participate in on-call and out-of-hours support arrangements where required to support critical business operations.

Essential

Experience and Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' IT experience, preferably within Application Support, Production Support or DevOps environments.
• Experience supporting enterprise applications within multi-tier architectures.
• Knowledge and experience of Windows Server administration and support.
• Strong software implementation, troubleshooting and incident management skills.
• Experience with change control processes and technical documentation.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.
• Self-motivated team player with strong organisational skills, attention to detail and a flexible approach to support requirements.

Desirable

• Experience of automation and scripting technologies such as PowerShell, Windows Batch, SQL and enterprise job schedulers.
• Knowledge of database administration and writing SQL queries.
• Software development experience using technologies such as .NET, C#, ASP.NET or Visual Studio.
• Experience with middleware and integration technologies including IIS, WebSphere, WebLogic, UC4/Automic, SSIS or SAP PI.
• Experience supporting operational or trading systems e.g. MV90, Intergraph G/Technologies, Aveva PI, Maximo, Eclipse, Trayport and/or Utilisoft.
• Experience working within 24/7 operational environments.

Location

This position will be based in ESB Head Office, F27, 2 Fitzwilliam Street, Dublin 4.

Smart Working at ESB is designed to make ‘in-person’ time together as purposeful as possible while also enabling the effective use of digital tools and hybrid arrangements to preserve our commitment to flexibility. The successful candidate may work flexibly within the jurisdiction where they have been employed, with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration at least two days per week. All Smart Working arrangements are subject to regular review based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the business.

Allowances

• On Call Allowance may be a requirement of the role.

Salary

€49,800 - €58,600 per annum (depending on experience)
