Job summary

Planet is seeking an Associate Analytics Engineer to own analytics transformations end-to-end and help deliver clean, tested data models for reporting and BI. You will work with Senior Analytics Engineers, Data Analysts, and stakeholders to design Bronze/Silver and Gold models in dbt, validate data quality, and optimize performance in Snowflake within a hybrid work model.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of experience in analytics engineering or a closely related role.
• Strong SQL skills and experience working with analytics datasets.
• Practical experience using dbt for transformations, tests, and documentation.
• Experience with a modern data warehouse (Snowflake) and BI patterns.

Responsibilities

• Independently develop Bronze/Silver dbt models following established standards.
• Contribute to Gold-layer models and analytics outputs under guidance.
• Apply dimensional modeling concepts (facts, dimensions) to support analytics and BI use cases.
• Use dbt to build, test, and document analytics models.
• Refactor existing models to improve clarity, performance, or consistency.
• Apply reusable patterns and macros where appropriate.
• Implement dbt tests (not null, uniqueness, values) for all owned models.
• Validate data outputs against business logic and expectations.
• Identify data quality issues early and collaborate to resolve them.
• Monitor model runs and respond to failures or anomalies.
• Collaborate with analysts and stakeholders to understand data requirements.
• Own documentation for delivered models and columns using dbt.
• Write business-friendly definitions and contribute to team playbooks.
• Suggest improvements and grow toward senior analytics engineering responsibilities.
