Job summary

Matrix Recruitment Group is assisting an innovative aerospace component repair company in Waterford in finding an experienced Aircraft Composite Technician. The role requires interpreting technical documentation, performing inspections, and selecting repair techniques for composite materials.

You will inspect damage, determine repair methods, carry out wet layup and pre-preg repairs, and ensure all work complies with Airworthiness Directives and Service Bulletins. Ireland resident preferred.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in aircraft composite component repair within an aviation/MRO environment.
  • Practical experience with wet and pre-preg layup, honeycomb and fibreglass structures, and hot/cold bonding.
  • B1 Licence and current HF certification.
  • Experience repairing aircraft flying surfaces in a workshop environment.
  • Ability to interpret and work with approved maintenance documentation (SRMs, AMMs, Service Bulletins, ADs).

Responsibilities

  • Inspect damage using visual, tapping/coin-tap and approved inspection techniques.
  • Determine damage extent (delamination, cracks, impact damage, honeycomb issues).
  • Select repair techniques and materials; remove damaged material and prepare area.
  • Refurbish and paint components; ensure work meets ADs and SBs.
  • Perform wet layup and pre-preg repairs; wet/bond repairs (hot and cold).
  • Repair or replace honeycomb cores and composite skins; finish to aerodynamic profile.
  • Inspect completed repairs and write inspection reports for customer review.
  • Work to approved aircraft maintenance documentation.

Job description

Our client is an innovative and expanding aircraft component repair company at the forefront of innovation in aerospace maintenance.

We are seeking an experienced AIRCRAFT COMPOSITE TECHNICIAN to support the continued expansion of our Waterford facility.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Candidates need to be able to interpret technical documentation, follow specified materials and processes, maintain traceability and complete the required inspection and documentation.

YOUR NEW JOB :
  • Inspecting damageusing visual inspection, tapping/coin-tap methods and approved inspection techniques.
  • Determine theextent and type of damage, such as delamination, cracks, impact damage or crushed honeycomb.
  • Determine the appropriate repair techniques and materials
  • Removing damaged composite material and preparing the area for repair.
  • Fully refurbish and paint components being repaired.
  • Determine if all work is carried out to the latest Airworthiness Directives and Service Bulletins
  • Performingwet layup and pre-preg repairs, applying layers of composite material according to the approved repair procedure.
  • Carrying outhot-bond and cold-bond repairs.
  • Repairing or replacinghoneycomb coresand composite skins.
  • Finishing, sanding and restoring repaired surfaces to the required aerodynamic profile.
  • Inspecting completed repairs and documenting the work. Write up inspection reports for customer review
  • Working to approved aircraft maintenance documentation
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR
  • Proven experience in aircraft composite component repair within an aviation/MRO environment.
  • Practical experience with wet and pre-preg layup, honeycomb and fibreglass structures, and hot and cold bonding techniques.
  • B1 Licence and current HF certification
  • Experienced in carrying out repairs on Aircraft flying surfaces within a workshop environment.
  • Experience in assessing composite damage and selecting appropriate repair techniques and materials.
  • Be familiar with inspecting and releasing components to service IAW Airworthiness regulations
  • Ability to interpret and work in accordance with approved aircraft maintenance and structural repair documentation, including SRMs, AMMs, Service Bulletins and Airworthiness Directives.
  • Airbus A320 and/or Boeing 737 experience highly desirable
Desirable

Aircraft painting, sheet metal repairs, B1 licence.
