Job summary

Red Hat is seeking a Software Engineering Intern in Waterford to accelerate AI and next-generation computing initiatives. You will contribute to proof-of-concept systems, collaborate with upstream open-source communities, and partner with product teams to enable new AI platforms.

You’ll explore PyTorch, vLLM, model serving stacks, GPUs, and cloud-native MLOps. This paid, full-time internship starts January 2027 in Waterford with flexible hours.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited university in Ireland for the full duration of the internship.
• Must be able to join full-time from January to August 2027.
• Working knowledge of written and spoken English.
• Background in software development in CS/CE or related field.
• Familiarity with UNIX or Linux environments.
• Experience with version control (Git).
• Coding experience in Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, Go, Rust, or C/C++.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a dynamic team exploring emerging technologies in AI, developer productivity, workflow automation, and managed services.
• Build and iterate on Proof-of-Concept implementations for AI and cloud-native platforms, including model training and inference pipelines.
• Work with PyTorch, vLLM, containerised runtimes, Kubernetes/OpenShift, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Write code in multiple languages to close functional gaps in infrastructure enablement and AI system integration.
• Ensure POC systems can be deployed in repeatable and automated ways.
• Present your work and findings to technical audiences across Red Hat.
