Job summary

IBM's ALM Design team invites an almost 12-month internship starting January 2027 to shape AI-enabled enterprise experiences. You’ll work with designers, researchers, content designers, product managers and developers to solve real problems and contribute to production software.

You'll create user-centered workflows, prototypes, and design systems while learning through mentorship and hands-on experience in a collaborative, agile setting.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in UX Design, Product Design, HCI, Visual Communication, or related field.
• Portfolio demonstrating design thinking and problem solving.
• Familiarity with Figma or similar design tools.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
• Curiosity, adaptability and a passion for learning.
• Must be within 1 year post graduation in January 2027.

Responsibilities

• Create user-centered designs, including workflows, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes.
• Translate research insights into design solutions that address customer and business needs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Participate in design critiques, workshops, playbacks, and agile ceremonies.
• Contribute to IBM design systems, reusable patterns, accessibility standards, and design best practices.
• Communicate design rationale and user insights through storytelling and presentations.
• Explore AI-assisted design tools and methods to support ideation, research synthesis, content creation, and prototyping.
• Share work in progress, seek feedback, and continuously improve your technical design and impactful storytelling skills.
