Job summary

Northern Trust is seeking a Scrum Master to support agile delivery across technology initiatives in Ireland. You will facilitate Scrum ceremonies, help Product Owners refine backlogs, and remove obstacles to keep teams aligned and focused on sprint commitments.

The role requires strong communication, organization, and a track record of enabling high-performing cross-functional teams in complex environments. A Scrum certification is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Experience as Scrum Master or similar delivery-focused role.
• Knowledge of Scrum and agile software delivery practices.
• Experience facilitating ceremonies and working with Product Owners.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Experience with backlog refinement and sprint planning.
• Certification (PSM or CSM) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews and retrospectives.
• Support Product Owners and delivery teams with backlog refinement, prioritisation and sprint readiness.
• Help teams plan and manage their work effectively, ensuring sprint goals and commitments remain visible and achievable.
• Identify and help remove impediments that may impact delivery progress.
• Track risks, issues and dependencies and elevate where appropriate.
• Use Agile tools and delivery metrics to monitor progress and provide transparency to stakeholders.
• Promote collaboration between Product Owners, developers and key stakeholders.
• Encourage Agile best practices and support teams in continuously improving how they work.
• Help maintain a positive team environment focused on delivery, accountability and continuous learning.
