Job description

Energy Communications Group - Sandymount, Dublin
About Energy Communications

Energy Communications is a long-established and growing marketing and event management company working with major multinational companies, primarily within the technology sector.

The Group operates in Ireland and the UK, with the finance and administration function based in our Sandymount office. We have recently implemented a new ERP system and continue to improve and automate our financial and operational processes.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced, practical and highly organised Accounts & Operations Assistant to take ownership of the day-to-day accounting for our Irish and UK businesses while also supporting the wider operations of the company.

This is a varied, hands-on role involving accounts, customer and supplier administration, customer portals, reporting and general operational support.

We are looking for someone who enjoys taking responsibility, solving problems and following issues through to completion. You will work closely with senior management and have the opportunity to become involved in a broad range of activities as the business grows.

Key Responsibilities
Accounts & Finance
  • Maintain purchase and sales ledgers, including processing supplier and customer invoices.
  • Process and allocate customer receipts and supplier payments.
  • Complete bank and credit card reconciliations and prepare supplier payment runs.
  • Monitor outstanding customer balances and follow up overdue accounts.
  • Reconcile customer accounts to customer procurement and payment portals.
  • Assist with Irish and UK VAT returns.
  • Support month-end management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations and audit requirements.
  • Produce regular financial and operational KPI reports.
  • Maintain accurate records within the company's ERP and accounting systems.
Customer & Operational Support
  • Manage customer procurement and payment portals, including purchase orders, invoicing requirements and related queries.
  • Assist with customer onboarding, supplier registrations and other customer administration.
  • Support Project Managers with procurement and project administration where required.
  • Maintain accurate customer and project information within the ERP system and support operational reporting.
  • Take ownership of administrative and process issues, working with colleagues and customers to resolve them efficiently.
What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who is reliable, confident, practical and comfortable taking ownership of their work.

The successful candidate should have:

  • At least 3 years' relevant experience in bookkeeping, accounts administration or a similar finance role.
  • Good practical experience of accounts payable, accounts receivable and bank reconciliations.
  • Good Excel skills and experience with accounting or ERP systems.
  • Strong attention to detail, organisation and problem-solving skills.
  • Confidence communicating with customers, suppliers and colleagues.
  • The ability to work independently, manage a varied workload and follow issues through to completion.
  • Existing unrestricted eligibility to work in Ireland on a permanent basis.
  • A positive and flexible approach and willingness to become involved beyond traditional bookkeeping duties.

An Accounting Technician qualification or similar would be an advantage, but practical experience, ability and attitude are more important to us than formal qualifications.

What We Offer
  • €35,000-€45,000 salary, depending on experience.
  • Hybrid working, with a minimum of three days per week in our Sandymount office.
  • A varied role combining finance, customer administration and business operations.
  • Direct exposure to senior management and the opportunity to take real ownership of the role.
  • The opportunity to help improve systems and processes as the company continues to grow.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Accounts Assistant or Bookkeeper looking for a broader role with greater responsibility and involvement in the business.
