Job summary

Itron's Global Business Centre in Cork is seeking a Senior Accountant who will own month-end close processes, review postings, and analyze P&L and balance sheet accounts.

You will ensure compliance with US GAAP and IFRS, support SOX audits, prepare statutory accounts and tax returns, and drive process improvements within a fast-paced multinational shared services environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CPA or equivalent.
• Experience in Accounting, Financial Reporting, Controllership, or related finance function.
• Knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS.
• Advanced Word, Excel skills and Oracle or similar.
• Experience in fast-paced multinational environments; Shared Services exposure preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review and post month-end close and accounting transactions.
• Analyze P&L and balance sheet; perform reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with US GAAP and local GAAP.
• Support SOX compliance and audits with auditors.
• Prepare local statutory accounts and tax returns for entities.
• Contribute to process improvements and efficiency.
• Collaborate with EMEA GBS team and internal contacts.
• Travel limited as required.

Itron’s Global Business Centre (GBS) in Cork is responsible for end-to-end activities for International Accounting. Our Senior Accountant reports to one of our County Controller Accounting Managers and will take ownership or part ownership of one or more entities within EMEA.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Responsible for the timely and accurate review and posting of month end close and accounting transactions; P&L and balance sheet account analysis, review, reconciliation and resolution.
• Responsible for ensuring that financial records are in compliance with US and Local GAAP.
• Support SOX Compliance, and internal/external audits within GBS working closely with advisors and auditors
• Responsible for the timely preparation of local statutory accounts, direct/corporate tax returns and tax provision calculations.
• Achieve targets for high performance that meet or exceed Service Level Agreements
• Complete monthly and quarterly fluctuation analysis and reporting for Corporate HQ for the entities under your responsibility.
• Ensure the ongoing implementation & integrity of all accounting transactions, including complex transactions, per agreed processes, procedures, and controls
• Actively participate in a continuous improvement culture through analysing accounting processes and procedures for greater efficiency and work with the team to generate and implement solutions
• Build relationships with and key support contacts in EMEA and within the wider GBS team
• Meet individual objectives and contribute to the achievement of the team’s overall objectives
• Ad-hoc project work as required.
• Available for limited travel when necessary

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, Qualified Accountant with an ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or similar.
• Relevant experience in Accounting, Financial Reporting, Controllership, or a related finance function.
• Knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Oracle or similar.
• Previous experience in fast paced multinational environments, previous experience in Shared Service Centre is preferred.

Depending on your experience, this role is expected to offer between gross 60,000 EUR and 70,000 EUR annually. We review compensation regularly to stay competitive in the market.
