Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Accommodation Support Worker to join our Emergency Accommodation Service. The successful candidate will support the day-to-day operation of the accommodation facility while promoting the safety, dignity, wellbeing and independence of residents. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the Accommodation Support Worker will provide practical and person-centred support to individuals and families residing in emergency accommodation, ensuring the service operates in accordance with organisational policies, safeguarding procedures and all relevant legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day support to residents living in emergency accommodation.
- Welcome new residents and assist with admissions, inductions and departures.
- Promote a safe, respectful and supportive living environment.
- Build positive professional relationships with residents while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
- Support residents in accessing healthcare, education, employment, welfare, housing and other community services.
- Maintain accurate and timely records, reports and case notes using electronic record management systems.
- Monitor resident wellbeing and report safeguarding, welfare or behavioural concerns in accordance with organisational procedures.
- Carry out regular health and safety, security and welfare checks throughout the accommodation facility.
- Assist in implementing individual support plans and resident goals.
- Work collaboratively with internal colleagues and external agencies, including local authorities, healthcare providers and community organisations.
- Support the implementation of safeguarding, health and safety, fire safety and emergency procedures.
- Assist with resolving conflicts and responding appropriately to incidents within the accommodation service.
- Participate in team meetings, supervision sessions and mandatory training.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties consistent with the position.
Essential Requirements
- A recognised qualification (minimum NFQ Level 7 or equivalent)
- At least two years' relevant experience working in emergency accommodation, homelessness services, residential services, social care, community services, healthcare or a related environment.
- Experience supporting vulnerable individuals or families.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare reports.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic record systems.
- Knowledge of safeguarding principles and professional boundaries.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Flexibility to work a rotating shift pattern,
Desirable Requirements
- Training in Safeguarding, Mental Health Awareness, First Aid, CPI, MAPA or conflict management.
- Knowledge of homelessness services, housing supports or migrant support services.
- Sector: accommodation and food service activities
