Job summary

Job Description

The Healthcare Assistant will provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to residents in a residential care setting. The role involves assisting residents with their daily living needs while promoting dignity, independence, choice, comfort and wellbeing. The successful candidate will work closely with residents, families, nurses and other members of the care team to ensure that each resident receives safe, respectful and compassionate care in accordance with individual care plans and organisational policies.

Main Duties

• Assist residents with personal care, including washing, dressing, grooming, toileting and continence care.
• Support residents with mobility, transfers and safe use of mobility equipment.
• Assist with meals, hydration and feeding where required, while respecting dietary needs and preferences.
• Provide companionship and emotional support and encourage residents to participate in social and recreational activities.
• Observe residents’ physical, emotional and behavioural wellbeing and report any concerns or changes promptly to the nurse or senior staff member.
• Follow individual care plans and accurately complete relevant care records and documentation.
• Support residents to maintain their independence, dignity, privacy and personal choices.
• Maintain a clean, safe and comfortable living environment.
• Follow infection prevention and control procedures, manual handling guidance, safeguarding procedures and health and safety requirements.
• Work effectively as part of the wider care team and communicate professionally with residents, relatives and colleagues.
