Job summary

Austin Engineering Ltd in Batam is seeking an experienced FCAW welder to join our fabrication team. You will read blueprints, interpret welding procedures (WPS), and weld carbon steel components according to engineering drawings and specifications.

You will prepare materials (cleaning, grinding, fitting), inspect welds for quality, maintain equipment, and perform minor repairs. You must follow safety protocols, use PPE, and collaborate with fitters, fabricators, and supervisors to ensure smooth

Qualifications

• Vocational High School (SMK) in Welding/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 2-3 years' experience as an FCAW welder in heavy fabrication, mining equipment, shipbuilding, or steel structures.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

• Operate FCAW welding equipment to join, fabricate, and repair metal components according to engineering drawings and specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, welding procedure specifications (WPS), and other technical documents.

• Prepare materials for welding, including cleaning, grinding, and fitting.

• Inspect finished welds for quality, ensuring compliance with industry standards and company specifications.

• Maintain welding equipment and tools, performing minor repairs and calibrations as needed.

• Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

• Collaborate with other team members, including fitters, fabricators, and supervisors, to ensure efficient workflow.

• Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting on welding machinery.

• Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards promptly.

• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and training programs.

Minimum Qualifications

• Vocational High School (SMK) in Welding/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

• Minimum 2 - 3 years' experience as an FCAW welder in heavy fabrication, mining equipment, shipbuilding, or steel structures, equipment, shipbuilding, or steel structures.

Technical Skills

• Proficient in Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW).

• Experience with 2F, 3F, 4F, 3G, 4G
• Ability to weld carbon steel plates of various thicknesses.

• Familiar with multi-pass welding techniques.

• Able to use grinders and other fabrication tools.

• Able to interpret WPS and welding symbols.

• Able to read engineering drawings and fabrication drawings.
