PT KBR Indonesia is seeking a Technical Senior Safety Engineer to develop design safety philosophies and fire protection specifications for LNG projects, independently or with minimum supervision.
The role involves preparing UFDs and P&IDs, performing fire water/foam demand calculations, hazard classifications, and coordinating with multiple disciplines to resolve safety issues. A broad background in HSE and strong code knowledge is essential.
The Technical Senior Safety Engineer will develop Design Safety Philosophies, Specifications for fire protection systems (active & passive), data sheets for firefighting systems independently or with minimum supervision.
Responsibilities:
Develop UFDs, P&IDs for the fire protection systems and performFire water/foam demand calculations (incl. Gas suppression system), and Firewater system Hydraulic check analysis
Prepare Hazardous Area Classification Source release schedule and Drawings, Fire Zone drawings, Fire & Gas Detection Layouts, Safety & Fire Fighting equipment layouts, , Escape route drawings, Firefighting Nozzle coverage shadow drawings. Etc
Participate in Process Hazard reviews and analysis including HAZOP/HAZID/SIL/Bowtie/ALARP studies (when needed) and support in Actions close-out
Under minimum supervision or independently, carry out the design of Active and Passive Fire Protection packages (including preparing requisitions, datasheets, TBE, etc) and PFP schedule documents
Support in reviewing/consolidating comments and coordinating third party studies, including FERA, dispersion analysis, EERA, ESSA, QRA studies, etc. (not limited to)
Support preparation of TBE and vendor document reviews forMechanical/Electrical/Instrument packages on safety / HFE aspects
Provide inputs, including Human Factors Engineering, for projects as required
Interface/coordinate with other Engineering disciplines to resolve technical matters related to safety aspects & with Designers and provide inputs for safety layout preparations for projects as required
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or related field
10+ years HSE Engineering experience (Process Safety/Risk Analysis/Loss Prevention Engineering), with average experience ranging from min 7 years in the Hydrocarbon industry
LNG facilities experience in design projects is required
Strong knowledge of International Codes and Standards, Regulatory codes and standards (DNV/ ABSNFPA) and the ability to influence designs to achieve optimal HSE outcomes
Familiar with plot plan reviews, HAZID, HAZOP, SIL classification/ verification and other safety reviews (e.g.SIMOPS, ALARP)
Good working knowledge of PIPENET, Flaresim & other consequence modelling software such as DNV PHAST etc
Need to be a good team engineer and have proactive inter-discipline communication skills
