Job summary

PT Nipsea Paint and Chemicals, a leading coatings company in Indonesia, seeks an Assistant Manager Technical R&D to lead Protective Coating, Marine, and Flooring initiatives and guide process development from trials to mass production.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, 8+ years in paints and coatings, strong problem-solving and leadership skills, and excellent English proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in the paint and coatings industry, preferably in a technical/R&D role.
• Experience in paint troubleshooting and technical problem solving.
• Strong experience in product development and product innovation.
• Able to determine and establish paint manufacturing processes and procedures.
• Strong analytical thinking and creativity.
• Proficient in computer applications.
• Good command of English, written and spoken.
• Able to work quickly, effectively, and efficiently.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good leadership and team management skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage and perform research and development activities, including process development, setting parameters and product targets, pre-commercialization trials, and mass production implementation.
• Prepare monthly technical reports covering development plans, testing and review status, formulation development, chemical/raw material analysis, trial results, and final outcomes.
• Coordinate with Production, Purchasing, Sales, and Marketing regarding production activities, raw material availability, new product development, and improvement of existing products.
• Monitor and take action based on raw material analysis and chemical composition to achieve continuous product development.
• Lead troubleshooting activities and provide technical solutions related to product quality, formulation, and production processes.
• Drive innovation and improvement initiatives to support development of Protective Coating, Marine, and Flooring products.
