Job summary

Sandvik Indonesia is seeking a seasoned Technical Advisor for our Papua operation. You will support a fleet of Sandvik underground drills and bolters, ensuring reliability, safety and high availability of the fleet while mentoring local technicians.

The role requires seven or more years in underground mining with Sandvik equipment, strong technical knowledge, and excellent communication skills to build lasting customer relationships in a global engineering environment.

Qualifications

• Trade qualified in mechanical, electrical and hydraulics systems.
• Minimum 7 years’ experience in underground mining maintaining Sandvik underground drill and bolting equipment.
• Strong understanding of underground drilling and bolting principles and practices.
• Good communication and customer service skills with ability to build long-term relationships.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support on Sandvik underground drills and bolters, including Jumbo’s, Solo’s, Commando, cable bolters and related equipment.
• Organize and feedback on reliability issues for the fleet.
• Assist service personnel on technical and spare parts concerns.
• Mentor and upskill local workforce in best-practice service and maintenance with focus on safety.
• Collaborate with GM and Technical Support Manager on EHS initiatives and customer requirements.
• Drive adoption of new technology and improve processes through digitalization.

The role

We currently have opportunities for qualified technicians to join our team as Technical Advisors based in the Freeport located in the Papua Province, Indonesia.

The opportunity is well suited for those with strong customer‑centric and technical support experience for Sandvik underground drill and bolt equipment.

You will be a key member of an established team and drive the reliability and availability of the underground mining fleet while supporting a zero‑harm safety culture.

The opportunity will see you

• Providing technical support on a fleet of Sandvik underground drills and bolter products including Jumbo's, Solo's, Commando, Cable bolters, Secondary Breaking Drills, and other UG utility equipment such as Rock Breakers and Getman Mixers.
• Organizing and providing feedback on any reliability related issues or concerns regarding the fleet.
• Aiding Service Personnel as required on technical issues and spare parts concerns.
• Support the principles to mentor and upskill the local workforce in best‑practice service and maintenance standards with a focus on safe work practices.
• Collaborate with General Manager and Technical Support Manager for EHS initiatives, training needs, and specific customer requirements.
• Actively driving the adaption of new technology by Service Personnel including improving process and procedures through digitalization.

Your profile

To be successful in this position you must be trade qualified or have similar qualifications disciplined in mechanical, electrical and hydraulics systems.

You will have extensive experience in a similar role in the underground mining industry with a minimum of seven years’ experience maintaining Sandvik underground drill and bolting equipment. Importantly, you will have a strong understanding of underground drilling and bolting principles and practices combined with deep working knowledge of the Sandvik product range.

In addition to your expert technical knowledge, you will have good communication and customer service skills and the ability to build long term relationships.
