GrabTaxi Holdings Pte. Ltd. is seeking an Android Software Engineer to build and evolve mobile applications for a high-impact product. You will work closely with teammates to turn ideas into seamless user experiences, reporting to the Lead Software Engineer, Mobile, and will be based fully on-site in Jakarta.

The role focuses on translating requirements into robust Android features, ensuring quality through testing, and collaborating with backend engineers to deliver scalable functionality.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in native Android development.
• Proficiency in Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Coroutines/Flow and Dagger.
• Strong understanding of architecture patterns and data storage.
• Experience with CI/CD and production issue response.
• Familiar with Git workflows and collaboration practices.
• Write clean, maintainable code with tests (unit/integration).
• Collaborate with backend and product teams to implement features.

The Transaction Platform team develops and optimizes Grab's Order Platform, supporting the fast-growing Transport, GrabFood, and GrabMart businesses across online and offline channels. We use a microservice architecture on the backend and various frontend techniques (e.g., iOS, ADR, Flutter, and Web) to serve end-users (Consumers, Drivers, Merchants, and Partners) in 8 countries. We are looking for an Android Software Engineer to build and evolve mobile applications that contribute to the development of a high-impact product. You'll work closely with team members to turn product ideas into seamless user experiences. You will report to the Lead Software Engineer, Mobile, and will be based fully on-site in Jakarta.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

• Translating requirements into well-designed, user-focused Android features.
• Develop, test, and deploy code with a focus on quality and scalability.
• Proactively identify and solve technical challenges.
• Optimize app performance for responsiveness and stability.

• Actively participate in code reviews to maintain high development standards.
• Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate app functionalities.
• Stay up-to-date with trends in mobile development and proposing innovative solutions.

What Essential Skills You Will Need

• Have 2+ years of experience in native Android system and programming paradigms, including Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Kotlin Coroutines/Flow, and Dagger. RxJava is an added value.
• Have a working knowledge of several architectural approaches, design (MVC, MVP, MVI, MVVM), caching and data storage.
• Have a working understanding of quality/operations practices such as monitoring, crash/performance debugging, and CI/CD-driven delivery (including responding to production issues and communicating.
• Familiar with common Git workflows (branching, pull requests, resolving conflicts, and rebasing/merging) for collaboration.
• Manage an assigned feature end-to-end from requirements and implementation through self-test, QA handover, release verification, and defect follow-up.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code with comprehensive unit and integration tests using frameworks such as JUnit, Espresso, and Mockito.
• Demonstrate solid Android system design fundamentals, including non-functional requirements, stability/reliability, and the ability to reason about edge cases and trade-offs.
• Collaborate with the backend team to create modular, reusable components and scalable APIs.
• Partner with product and experience teams to translate requirements into technical specifications.
