Job summary

British American Tobacco Indonesia is seeking a Senior Mechanic (Packer Technology) in Malang. The role focuses on acting as SME for packer machines, troubleshooting equipment, and driving continuous improvements in manufacturing operations.

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering with 5+ years in manufacturing, maintenance, or continuous improvement and experience with SAP PM and RCA methodologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing, maintenance, engineering, reliability, or continuous improvement.
• Strong technical expertise in troubleshooting complex industrial equipment and mechanical systems.
• Experience with SAP PM, RCA methodologies, and project management is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Act as SME for packer machines and provide technical guidance in manufacturing operations.
• Troubleshoot complex equipment issues to ensure machine reliability and minimal downtime.
• Lead RCA activities to resolve equipment failures and quality issues.
• Identify opportunities to improve machine performance and production efficiency.
• Support productivity and cost improvement projects and best practices across operations.
• Provide technical support for engineering projects including commissioning and start-up.
• Coach operators and support technical training activities.

British American Tobacco Indonesia has an exciting opportunity for an SME – Senior Mechanic (Packer Technology) in Malang

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Act as the subject matter expert for packer machines and support the team with technical guidance in daily manufacturing operations.
• Troubleshoot complex and recurring equipment issues to ensure machine reliability, operational efficiency, and minimal downtime.
• Lead and support root cause analysis (RCA) activities to identify and resolve equipment failures and quality-related issues.
• Support root cause analysis to find and fix equipment failures and quality-related issues.
• Identify opportunities to improve machine performance, production efficiency, and manufacturing processes through continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support productivity and cost improvement projects, while helping to apply best practices across operations.
• Provide technical expertise for engineering projects, including equipment commissioning, qualification, start-up, and implementation activities.
• Help build team capability by coaching operators, sharing knowledge, and supporting technical training or workshops.

What we are looking for:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing, maintenance, engineering, reliability, or continuous improvement environments.
• Strong technical expertise in troubleshooting complex industrial equipment and mechanical systems within a manufacturing setting.
• Proven ability to drive operational excellence, equipment reliability, and process improvement initiatives.
• Experience with maintenance management systems such as SAP PM, root cause analysis methodologies, and project management is highly beneficial.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
