Job summary

PaxOcean in Batam is seeking a Steel Manager to supervise daily steel fabrication and installation for shipbuilding projects. You will coordinate with engineering, procurement, and quality control teams to meet schedules while maintaining high safety and quality standards.

The role requires extensive experience in steel fabrication, leadership of multi-national teams, and proficiency with drawings and fabrication technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Ship Construction or related field.
• Minimum 10 years in the shipbuilding industry.
• Fluent in English (spoken and written).
• Prior experience as a Steel Fabrication Manager in a shipyard.
• Able to read and interpret technical drawings and ship plans.
• Knowledge of steel fabrication, welding, and quality standards.
• Proficient in production planning and resource management.
• Familiar with IACS standards (NK, LR, DNV, ABS, BV) and AWS D1.1.
• Proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD, and Navisworks.
• Strong leadership and multi-national team management.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily steel fabrication and installation activities for shipbuilding projects.
• Ensure compliance with HSE regulations and company policies.
• Plan, organize, and control steel fabrication and assembly operations.
• Supervise steel workers, welders, fabricators, and QC staff to ensure productivity.
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and quality control teams.
• Monitor production schedules and ensure timely milestones.
• Assist budgeting, cost control, and inventory of steel materials and tools.
• Prepare progress reports and risk assessments for management.
