Job summary

Grab is seeking a highly skilled software engineer to join the CX Engineering team in Jakarta. You will build high-quality, scalable full-stack services powering the Grab app, from login to home and activity, while promoting AI-driven delivery and secure, maintainable code.

You will lead AI-enabled workflows, design robust architectures, and raise engineering standards through reviews and mentorship. This on-site role reports to the Engineering Manager in Jakarta.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, Software Engineering, IT, or related field.
• 6+ years of software engineering experience.
• Computer Science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, and system design).
• Critical ability to audit AI-generated code for security, correctness, and maintainability.
• Proven track record of leading AI-driven technical initiatives and raising engineering standards across teams.
• Proficiency in Go (or strong expertise in Java, C++, Scala, Rust, Python, Node.js, C# with a willingness to write Go).
• Modern Web Frameworks (React) using JavaScript / TypeScript.
• Distributed systems, large-scale web services, system internals, networking, performance tuning, and scalability.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted engineering workflows (Copilot, LLM coding tools) to plan, write, test, and debug code.

Responsibilities

• Build, operate, and optimize scalable, high-availability fullstack services and Go backend systems.
• Leverage and validate AI-assisted tools to build secure, high-quality code and lead plans that boost team efficiency.
• Design scalable architectures, manage system performance and capacity, and resolve complex distributed system issues.
• Take end-to-end ownership of product outcomes, drive cross-functional alignment, and manage production incidents during on-call rotations.
• Elevate engineering standards through design/code reviews, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing.

Come join the Consumer Experience (CX) Engineering team! We work on a diverse set of consumer problems. These problems span across core experiences that power the UX navigation and transaction funnels, search and discovery of content and services. They also cover the user lifecycle, including user growth, engagement, and loyalty. Additionally, they involve the critical platform mission of mobile application developer experience. We are on an exciting mission to connect consumers to Grab's marketplace by allowing them to discover and engage with Grab's services and partners.

Get to Know the Role

You will build high-quality systems that power end-to-end consumer journeys across the Grab app—from login to the home and activity experiences. You will promote AI-driven delivery, using AI-enabled engineering workflows to take well-defined requirements through planning, testing, debugging, and documentation to a review-ready merge request. You will ensure these workflows produce secure, reliable, and maintainable solutions while helping raise engineering standards across the team. You will report to the Engineering Manager. This is an on-site role based in Jakarta.
