Job summary

SIRCLO, the leading omnichannel commerce enabler in Indonesia, is seeking a senior software engineering leader to Drive technical excellence and mentor the team. You will translate business needs into scalable architectures, oversee code quality, and champion automation and robust API design.

You will mentor junior and mid-level engineers, raise development standards, and collaborate in a fast-paced environment focused on delivering robust, secure, and scalable systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Familiar with Django, Laravel, or Node.js.
• Collaborative, fast-paced team player.
• Proven mentoring of software teams and driving technical initiatives.
• Proficient in English, both written and spoken.

• Strong understanding of core software engineering principles.

Job description

• Act as a core pillar in the development and scalability of our systems.
• Focus heavily on deep technical capabilities, technical leadership, and a commitment to technical excellence.
• Take responsibility for mentoring the team, setting high code-quality standards, and transforming abstract business requirements into robust and efficient system architectures.
• Strengthen technical hard skills within the team and provide intensive mentoring to junior and mid-level engineers.
• Conduct rigorous code reviews to ensure all code and built systems meet and adhere to technical excellence standards, including performance, security, scalability, and clean code.
• Initiate active and innovative ways to elevate and update the organisation's engineering standards to a higher level.
• Translate ambiguous or poorly defined business and product problems into well-structured technical designs, database schemas, and system architectures.
• Break down complex and large-scale technical challenges into clear, well-planned, and actionable technical workstreams for the team to execute.
• Identify gaps and opportunities for automation across the software development lifecycle, such as CI/CD implementation, automated testing, performance monitoring, and release processes.
• Optimise team workflows and developer experience (DevEx) to minimise technical debt and accelerate time-to-market.
• Drive code democratisation by building modular architectures, reusable components, shared libraries, and robust APIs/SDKs.
• Create comprehensive and clear technical documentation, including system architecture diagrams, API contracts, and runbooks, to empower other engineering teams and stakeholders to integrate and innovate independently.

Requirements

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field of study, or demonstrate equivalent practical experience.
• Maintain deep familiarity with server-side web frameworks such as Django, Laravel, or Node.js.
• Thrive and enjoy working within a collaborative, fast-paced team environment.
• Possess a proven track record of guiding technical initiatives and mentoring software engineering teams to ensure deliverables meet technical excellence standards.
• Communicate with working proficiency in both verbal and written English.
• Remain highly open to exploring, learning, and implementing new technologies and engineering concepts.
• Show a keen interest and capability to learn other programming languages and technical stacks as required.
• Demonstrate a profound understanding of core software engineering principles, computer science concepts, and system architecture.
